Series: Finding the Glimmers
Remembering What Makes You Feel Alive

Sometimes we call it joy.
Sometimes we call it peace.
But what we’re really feeling is a glimmer
An anchor in our minds pulling us back to a pleasant memory or sensation.

Glimmers are not random.
They are not simply pleasant sensations passing by.
They are much deeper
a telltale sign of something truer
A younger version of you that was soft, open, delighted,
before the world taught you to be closed off.

And maybe you were taught that version of you wasn’t safe to exist.
That this joy made you vulnerable.
That it is easier to hide the parts of you that danced and trusted and wanted.
And so they retreated into the darkest parts of your heart.

Not gone.
Just hidden.
Waiting.

Glimmers Help You Remember Who You Were

Before the anxiety,
before the people-pleasing,
before the vigilance and the silence and the pretending
there was you.

The version of you who used to hum while coloring,
who giggled uncontrollably,
who danced like no one was watching,
who felt safe laying on your mother’s lap.

The version of you who didn’t play small, who didn’t overthink.
The you who simply… was.

Glimmers don’t just bring warmth.
They bring remembrance.

A flash of your essence before the world forced you to change to fit its expectations.
They help us retrieve the parts of our identity that got lost somewhere along the way.

Reflective Exercise:
A Letter to a Forgotten Joy

For the next 10 minutes.

Place your hand on your heart.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Then let yourself write

Dear version of me who used to feel free,
I remember when you…
I forgot how much you loved…
I want to bring you back by…

Write as if you're writing to a friend you want to reconnect with.

Let it be imperfect.
Let it be real.

There is no right or wrong way.
Write as much as you need.

When you're done, underline one line that makes your heart light up.
That’s your glimmer trail.

Next in Part 3:
We’ll begin gently building a daily glimmer practice
